Working here

Work that ends up in published science

Researchers design their studies in our web app; participants answer in our iOS and Android apps. Every release you check reaches both.

01 / Anywhere in Pakistan

Fully remote

Work from anywhere in Pakistan alongside a Karachi-based team, with the flexibility a distributed company runs on.

Surveys adapt to every time zone, and so do we

02 / Peer-reviewed outcomes

Research that matters

Studies run on ExpiWell are published in peer-reviewed journals and used in healthcare and education. Your work protects that data.

Every response is a data point in someone's science

03 / HIPAA & GDPR

Quality taken seriously

We handle sensitive, regulated research data under HIPAA and GDPR. A bug you find leads to a change, not a ticket that sits.

Reported, fixed, verified on a real device

04 / First hires, not replacements

Room to shape the role

QA is being built here, not inherited. You decide what gets tested, what gets automated, and how the team knows a release is ready.

Experience
3–5 yearsManual and functional software testing
Type
Full-time / Contract

You will be the person who makes sure every release works the way a researcher and a participant expect it to, across our web app and our iOS and Android apps. No coding is required. We need someone who is thorough, curious, and clear in writing, and who takes ownership of quality rather than waiting to be told what to check.

What you'll do
  • Test new features and bug fixes across web, iOS, and Android before they ship
  • Write and maintain test cases, checklists, and regression suites from product requirements
  • Run regression cycles ahead of each release and sign off on what is ready
  • Reproduce, document, and track bugs with clear steps, screenshots, and severity
  • Verify fixes and re-test across devices, browsers, and screen sizes
  • Test the participant experience end to end: notifications, scheduled surveys, offline behaviour, and syncing
  • Work closely with developers and product to clarify expected behaviour and flag gaps early
  • Keep the shared test documentation current as the product evolves
What we're looking for
  • 3–5 years of hands-on manual testing of web and mobile applications
  • Experience testing native iOS and Android apps on real devices, not only simulators
  • Strong grasp of test design: functional, regression, exploratory, usability, and cross-browser / cross-device testing
  • Ability to write precise, reproducible bug reports and well-structured test cases
  • Familiarity with an issue tracker and a test-management tool (any is fine)
  • Attention to detail and the persistence to chase down intermittent issues
  • Good written and spoken English; comfortable working asynchronously with a distributed team
Nice to have
  • Exposure to apps that handle sensitive or regulated data (health, research, finance)
  • Basic understanding of APIs and how to inspect a request and response
  • Experience testing push notifications, in-app scheduling, or time-zone-sensitive features

Senior QA Engineer, Automation & Release

Playwright, Appium & PostmanRelease gatekeeper
Apply for this role
Location
Karachi, PakistanFully remote
Experience
6–7 yearsSoftware QA, with substantial test automation and release ownership
Type
Full-time / Contract

You will own quality for ExpiWell across our web app, our iOS and Android apps, and the API behind them. This is a senior, hands-on role with real authority: you decide when a release is ready, you build and run the automated suites that back that decision, and you tell us where the product should work better. We are looking for a critical thinker who reasons from evidence, writes clearly, and is comfortable being the person the team looks to before anything ships.

What you'll do
  • Be the release gatekeeper: define the pre-release checklist, run it, and give or withhold sign-off for every web, iOS, and Android release
  • Own and extend our Playwright end-to-end suites for the web app, and make them run on every promotion and nightly so a green run means something
  • Build mobile automation for the iOS and Android apps with Appium, running on real devices, and drive the groundwork it needs with the developers
  • Build and maintain Postman collections for our API, with environments for each region, and run them automatically in the pipeline
  • Test the participant experience end to end on real phones: notifications, scheduled surveys, offline behaviour, wearable sync, and syncing back to the dashboard
  • Review the product as a user would and write clear UX and workflow recommendations with evidence, mockups where useful, and a proposed fix
  • Keep suites fast, stable, and trustworthy; hunt down flaky tests rather than tolerating them, and report on coverage, readiness, and risk
  • Mentor the manual QA tester, decide what is automated and what stays manual, and set the standard for bug reports and test plans
What we're looking for
  • 6–7 years in software QA, with at least 4 years building test automation from the ground up
  • Strong TypeScript or JavaScript, since our suites are code that developers read and review
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Playwright for web applications
  • Hands-on experience with Appium for native iOS and Android apps, including real-device testing
  • Confident API testing in Postman: collections, environments, authentication flows, and automated runs
  • Experience designing maintainable frameworks: page objects, reusable helpers, clean test-data handling
  • Track record of running automation inside a continuous integration pipeline, and comfortable with version control and code review
  • A critical thinker who reasons from evidence, questions assumptions, and can explain a quality risk to engineers and founders alike
  • Clear written communication and the ability to work independently across time zones
Nice to have
  • Selenium experience, if your Playwright experience is more recent
  • Experience with cloud device farms such as BrowserStack for mobile testing
  • Accessibility testing (WCAG) and performance or load testing exposure
  • Ability to read Swift or Kotlin well enough to follow a mobile bug to its cause
  • Experience with products that handle sensitive or regulated data
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading QA engineers
