Nos has muestreado a medio construir.

The most common questions from participants using the ExpiWell app, with short answers and links to the full guides.

How do I join a study?

Install the free app, then add the study using the access code your research team gave you: tap +, enter the code, and tap Find Experience (Add Experience on Android). Some studies invite you by email or hand you a ready-made account instead. See How to add experiences and Create an account.

When do surveys arrive?

As notifications, on the schedule your research team set. Times follow your own time zone and adjust automatically if you travel. Surveys are only available inside their window, so respond when you get the alert. You can open an available survey in any of three ways:

  • Tap the notification.
  • Tap Go To Experience on the Available Experience pop-up the app shows when a survey opens while you're using it.
  • Open the study from your home screen and tap the survey.

See Notifications and Project overview.

Why can't I open a survey?

Check the status shown on the survey:

  • Scheduled means its window hasn't opened yet. Wait for the notification.
  • A survey with a shuffle icon is a random timeslot: it shows Scheduled until it opens at a random moment inside its window, and you'll get a notification when it does. See Randomization.
  • Paused means your research team has held this survey back while another survey's window is open. If they've set it to resume, it comes back when that window closes. See Survey pause.
  • Missed means the window has closed. If your research team allows it, switch to the Daily view, tap ⋮ on the survey and choose Retake Timeslot. If that option isn't there, the survey can't be taken again.

If none of these explains it, contact your research team.

Why am I not getting notifications?

Try these, in order:

  1. Turn off Do Not Disturb or any Focus mode that silences ExpiWell.
  2. Make sure notifications are allowed for ExpiWell in your phone's settings.
  3. Check that you're signed in to the account you joined the study with and that you have a working internet connection.
  4. If alerts still don't arrive, first go online so any surveys you answered offline upload. Then sign out and back in, or reinstall the app. Your studies are tied to your account, so you won't lose them.

See Notifications.

Why do the questions appear in a different order?

Your research team may have turned on randomization, which shuffles the order of questions or answer choices each time a survey repeats. You still answer the same questions. See Randomization.

Do I need an internet connection?

It depends on the study. If a study can be taken offline, the app asks when you add it: choose Take Experience Offline and your answers upload automatically the next time you're online. Other studies need a connection to start a survey. See How to add experiences.

Is my data private?

Yes. You take part anonymized, so no identifying information is shared with researchers through the app. ExpiWell is HIPAA and GDPR compliant, with controls monitored continuously; see Security. In Settings you can use Download my data to get a copy of your data, or Delete ExpiWell Account to remove your account.

Will I get paid?

Only if your study offers compensation. When it does, your earnings collect under My Balance in the app. Once you reach $5.00 you can redeem them as an Amazon gift card, and the claim code is emailed to you. See Receiving payments.

Why can't I install the app on my phone?

Your phone needs iOS 15.0 or later, or Android 8.0 or later. Update your phone's software, then try again. See ExpiWell mobile apps.

How do I get help?

Contact your research team first. ExpiWell can't put you in touch with them, so keep their contact details for the length of the study. You can email them from the app; see Contacting the researchers. For problems with the app itself, email help@expiwell.com.
